{Ready to Go Costumes: Leading Ladies of the 50s and 60s}

This week we have chosen three of the most iconic movie stars of all time: Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, and Elizabeth Taylor, and created costumes that represent their most iconic movie roles.

Audrey Hepburn: Breakfast at Tiffany’s

This movie is all about fashion, but everyone immediately thinks of the signature look with the black dress, jewels, and tiara.  You can choose any simple black cocktail dress that is early 60’s style, pair with long gloves, a chic clutch, and over-the-top jewels, and you are ready to go! Don’t forget your tiara for your updo!

 Necklaces-$30, $15
Dress- $54
Tiara- $6.50
Gloves- $8

Marilyn Monroe: The Seven Year Itch

One of the most recognizable movie scenes of all time, all centered around a simple white halter dress. This Marilyn look is very simple and is all about finding the right dress.  Look for a halter a-line style dress (very waist cinching), pair with simple kitten heels, and your look is complete!  Don’t leave the house without mastering those blonde curls and ruby red lips too!

Elizabeth Taylor: Cleopatra

After looking up costumes from this movie, we were so overwhelmed and amazed!  The makeup, styling, and accessories are so over-the-top and beautiful! Make it all about accessories with this look.   Liz wore a number of different dresses in all styles and colors but what makes the look recognizable is the amazing headpieces, collars, and jewels.  We used a knit black and white dress with gold and orange detailing.  We layered this gorgeous beaded collar over the neckline, and piled on tons of gold bracelets, including a golden snake arm band!  Finally we created an eye-catching headpiece by layering two necklaces on top of one another and pinning them into place!  Don’t forget to go all out with the eye makeup for this look!

Beaded collar-$60

Snake arm band- $19.99

Dress (comes with matching crop jacket)- $30
