Vintage DIY: Silly for Stripes

All of us Street Scene gals cannot resist a great pattern when it comes to clothing or accessories!  One of my favorite classic patterns that has remained timeless throughout fashion history is the stripe!  We are always overflowing with great striped tops, skirts, and dresses in the store, so I put together some great outfits with some of my favorite striped items for summer!  Every single item is available for purchase at Street Scene, so if you love an outfit, you can come buy the ENTIRE look from head to toe!
black and white striped dress -$23; multi-chain and pearl necklace- $18; horse purse- $28; saddle shoes- $35.99; sweet sheer blouse- $15; mint green sunglasses- $10

Black and white stripes are an essential in every wardrobe, and this adorable cotton striped dress would be easy to mix and match with so many different pieces.  We layered a sweet short-sleeved blouse underneath and threw on a layered chunky necklace over it. Retro-style saddle shoes add a fun touch to the outfit and also coordinate perfectly with the black and white scheme.  To keep your look from feeling too boring, try  adding a pop of any color to your outfit with your accessories.

dress- $23; belt-$12; scarf $5; TOMS- $74; purse- $15

Pop of Pink Preppy
To keep this dark green striped dress from looking too wintery, I added pink accessories for an ultra-preppy look.  One of the biggest trends of the moment is wearing cute casual tennis shoes with dressier skirts and dresses, so these TOMS cordones work perfectly with this casual outfit.  A pink belt, coordinating green sunglasses, and green leather chain-handled purse (with hot pink scarf) round out the rest of the look.

turquoise gingham headband- $14.50; bracelets- $9-10; tangerine striped top- $14; cut-off shorts- $16; sunglasses- $10; TOMS wedges- $69
Coney Island Queen
This tangerine striped top is too cute, especially when paired with bright turquoise!  Don't be afraid to pair your brightly colored stripes with other bright colors for a fresh summer look! Of course we have the perfect accessories to match including these amazing orange sunglasses, TOMS canvas wedges, gingham headband, and chunky beaded bracelets!

Cut-out white blouse- $14; cut-off shorts-$16; oversized turquoise clutch- $16; TOMS strappy wedges- $69; bracelet- $10.50
Miss Mexicali
When you can wear stripes on your cut-off shorts, it doesn't get much better than that!  When wearing a patterned short, keep your tops more simple.  This cut-out blouse is a great alternative to a plain tank top or white tee because it has a little special detailing around the neck (and you won't even need a necklace!)  This over sized turquoise clutch will add the perfect punch of unexpected color to any outfit, and is so perfect for summer! Some red wedges, sassy red glasses, and chunky beaded bracelet tie the whole look together perfectly!

maxi dress- $30; belt- $8; TOMS strappy wedges- $69; necklace- $18.25
Fit for a Festival
This terrycloth maxi features a single band of wide stripes, so we went all out with the patterns in the accessories!  These strappy TOMS are also striped, and the colors match perfectly with the stripes in the dress!  Since the stripes are completely different sizes, and will have good distance between them, they can coordinate well together.  This chunky southwest-style necklace also brings out the bright shades in this dress, and a matching belt always makes a maxi a little more flattering.
