{Look of the Week}: Fresh Off the Catwalk

It's that special time of year when we all start drooling over the Spring/Summer Fashion Week looks. Getting to gaze at fresh spring designs is just such a blessing on these cold and grey days. This year, like every year many of the trends I've seen coming from the Paris fashion week strongly reference vintage designs. You will find a mixture of new Spring trends on our look of the week rack to prove this phenomenon. Many designers begin their creative process by pulling garments from the past that inspire them, then make them new by playing with textiles, embellishments, etc. When I first realized how that process worked I felt a little heart broken. I preferred the idea of each years collections coming down from heaven in a divine moment of inspiration, but I've come around to the muse of fashion weeks past technique. It makes dressing fashionably such a hoot, a real hoot. When you walk out of the house completely on trend and everything you're wearing is at least 30 years old, you know you're doing something right!

Pantone announced that the 2013 color of the year is emerald, which I could not be more excited about! All gem tones magically look lovely on everyone. This color saturated look was all over the runway as well. Head to toe of one color with subtle differences in tone and texture. Ooooooolala.

These two dresses look so much like some of the graphic designs that were shown this year. The fabrications are different, but these polyester beauties are a great way to get the look for less.

On the rack you will find pieces to help you stay fashion fresh. Photo printed tops that are the grandchild of the incredible digital printed textiles that have become so popular (my personal favorite). Black and white stripes to play with, that were shown mixed together in all kinds of crazy ways (right up my alley). Black tux jackets for women, this look never seems to go away, but somehow I'm surprised every time I see it (each time is like the first time).
I hope everyone takes the time to look through 2013's Spring/Summer Fashion Week moments. Choose your favorite trends and have fun finding pieces that will make those trends work for you...And while you're at it, pop in Street Scene to let us help you!
