Spring Transition

It's that time of year when your ideal closet is in a constant battle with the weather.  All the stores are stocked full of the latest spring fashions, yet the weather still screams winter.  We are all dying to get out of the hot and itchy layers and into more easy and breezy pieces.  Most of us are also ready to introduce more bright colors back into our wardrobe in preparation for spring and summer.  It's easy to beat the winter fashion blues if you just remember one tip: When creating an outfit, choose 1 spring piece and mix it in with other winter pieces.  This way you'll still be warm, but just a little brighter and fresher.  The easiest way to do this is mixing chunky sweaters with your skirts.  Whether they be maxis, sheer, flowy, or minis,  this will add a pop of spring into your outfit.  Check out the stylish ladies below for some more fashion transition inspiration:

Who says you can't wear white until after Memorial day?  Here's a way to get a jump start on wearing a sweet spring skirt.  Pair with booties and a chunky bright sweater for an easy and comfy outfit!

Another spring printed skirt looks adorable with an oversized sweater in a coordinating color.

Here's a great idea for layering: a bright spring blouse under a sweater, paired with fun shoes and chunky accessories.  The bright blue clutch adds a pop of spring color yet still looks completely season appropriate.

A beautiful example of rosy pinks mixed with darker cranberry and navy.  The mixed prints work perfectly together, and the bright red accessories add a pop of spring color.

Once the weather gets a bit warmer you can even substitute chunky sandals for boots in your look.  Here's a great all neutral look with bright creams and tans, that is perfect for spring.

A great metallic printed skirt looks awesome with a simple striped knit sweater.  The bright pink pumps and color blocked bag add a touch of spring color.

Try pairing your skirt/sweater combo with bright sneakers for a fun and unexpected (and super comfy) spring outfit!

Don't be afraid to wear more sheer and lightweight skirts, or brighter spring colors! They look totally appropriate when paired with a chunky neutral sweater!

I love the mix of a more formal skirt and shoes with a more casual sweater.  The colors are beautiful and the proportions work perfectly together.

The crew-neck sweater/ sweatshirt style of top look especially great paired with more flowy, spring styles of skirts.  They also add a great mix of casual vs. dressy.

A great variety of light pastel colors mixed with a rugged neutral olive jacket.  The white oxford shoes and floral printed bag add extra touches of spring to this outfit.

A great example of how to wear a bright spring dress right now.  Layer on a wool hat and over-sized sweater and you're ready to go!

Bright sunny yellow looks great with leather, suede, and pale neutrals.
