Emma's Autumn Picnic Tips & Tricks

Picnics are usually a summer entertaining staple, but in my opinion they are even more perfect as a fall entertaining option.  The weather is so much more comfortable, there are less bugs and annoying critters, and there are already so many great activities, like tailgating, that are perfect opportunities for picnicking!  Below I've collected some autumn picnic inspiration photos, tips, and tricks, to help you pull together a fabulous fall outing!

Vintage enamel dishes work perfectly for a fall picnic table! Mini pies are great bite-sized and easy-to-transport dessert.  A bowl or bucket full of orchard fresh apples makes easy, cheap, and bright table decor!

All your picnic must-haves: wool blankets, rustic tableware, lots of plaid, and baskets galore!

Don't forget the most perfect fall dessert of all time: apple cider donuts! Stack them and serve like a cake on a pretty glass pedestal!

The most perfect fall picnic spread!  The colors are beautiful and match the changing leaves perfectly!

Thermoses are another must-have for fall picnics.  Use them to transport cider and hot beverages or soups, like in the photo above!  You can bring several different kinds with cute cups for serving!  Add some finger foods and mini sandwiches and your entire meal is ready for the crowd!

Creating little serving stations is one of my favorite ways to entertain.  There are so many great ideas for fall serving stations from cider bars to chili bars, soup stations or even a pie table!  I love the simple sign they created for the cider station above by writing on a piece of burlap!

Simple and rustic tables and decor work perfectly for your outdoor fall picnic.  Nothing says fall like some tasty pies! This pie table is very simple but oh so beautiful!

Chili is a fall staple, especially for tailgating.  Create a chili bar complete with fries, potatoes, hot dogs, and tons of toppings too!

I usually hate crochet tablecloths but they work perfectly mixed in with rustic furniture for a simple fall tablescape.

Cutting boards make perfect serving platters and small lidded jars are perfect for serving individual portions of salads or side dishes!

Collect plaid blankets throughout the year from thrift stores and garage sales.  When you have guests over for a fall picnic you can put them all in a basket for everyone to use!
