[Look for Less]: Vintage Flannel Styled Three Ways

Taking a page from Emma's post on Monday, I decided to grab the flannels we have in the store and style them up a few different ways! Flannels (and plaid print, in general) have been an integral part of my wardrobe since I was a freshman at UK and needed something cozy and stylish to throw on in my bleary early morning state when I could hardly open my eyes let alone choose a full outfit to wear. I'm an avid believer that flannels shouldn't just be relegated to 90's grunge style, it's a versatile piece that can be worn in a multitude of places: from the office to a night out! Below I've styled three different outfits using flannels - hopefully it will inspire you to try one out in your own wardrobe!

[Look One]: Prep School

This is a great outfit for a Saturday grabbing coffee with friends, going to the farmer's market or a more casual work setting. Using a thick checked flannel, I added this fantastic vintage Lacoste sweater for a preppy look. Adding to it a polka dot skirt is an easy, beginner's way to mix patterns without it overwhelming the outfit. The loafers are a patent faux alligator with tassels (SO cute!) and the clutch plays off the red stripes on the sweater and adds another print and dimension with its color and the genuine snakeskin fabrication.

[Look Two]: Hipster Chic

The second look is definitely a casual one that does borrow from the 90's. Using a classic red flannel, I topped it with a bodycon denim dress. We have some vintage heathered grey thigh-high socks that are ridiculously awesome, so I paired them with some grey suede knee-high boots. The final touch is a cream rabbit fur purse! I'd wear this to meet friends for a drink or if you want to go with less impact, switch out the socks and boots for a little pair of flats and have a great everyday casual outfit.

[Look Three]: Modern Office

This is my favorite outfit of the three only because it so approachable to so many lifestyles. This could be dressed up or down by switching out the jeans for grey pants or pencil skirt and swap the two-tone flats for a pair of heels. The print of this blazer is to die for, too! It's a navy velvet blazer with a bird and floral print - if it fit my linebacker shoulders, it would already be hanging in my closet! To play off the pinks in the blazer, I chose a brighter plaid shirt that works with instead of against, the print of the blazer. I added a pair of classic skinny jeans and finished it off with these amazing suede two-tone flats that also plays off the olive in the blazer! I finished the outfit off with a black quilted (can't quit that trend!) handbag.

As I said before, a flannel shirt can be a truly versatile piece of your fall wardrobe and here at Street Scene it's never too much of an investment as our flannels run from $12-$18!

Have a great weekend!
